At Learning Through PLAYtrays®️, your child's safety isn't just a priority—it's built into every product we create. An Early Years Educator from Canada, saw a need for higher safety standards in play trays after finding the UK TUFF TRAYS lacking quality.

So we took on the challenge to REINVENT the classic cement mixing UK TUFF tray (never made for kids until now!) Finally, a TUFF tray that is extra TUFF with a sensory textured surface! 100% Designed for Sensory Play

Our Innovations for Safer Play:

  • Sensory Tray Surface Traction: Unlike the traditional smooth surface of other TUFF TRAYS that can become dangerously slippery during water play, our trays feature a tactile surface. This innovation provides extra grip, reducing the risk of slips when children sit or stand in the tray during water activities. Our tuff trays are the only tuff trays to feature a new sensory surface.
  • Elimination of Tray Hooks: We’ve removed the side hooks found on other trays that are meant for hanging but pose a risk of accidents. These hooks can be unstable and cause the tray to be knocked down easily. Additionally, children could potentially trip and fall into these hooks if used with a stand. Instead, we suggest safer storage options like sliding the tray under a bed or keeping it on a stable surface.
  • Durable & Extra TUFF Design: Redesigned in 2024 with both safety and sensory play in mind, our trays are crafted through an improved production process that makes them the toughest on the market. They are built to withstand energetic play and our special tactile surface limits visibility of scratches over time. If the tray ever does bend due to temperature changes, simply laying it flat will help it return to its original form without any worries.
  • CPSC U.S Safety Certification: Our tuff trays are certified by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in the U.S., ensuring that they meet rigorous safety standards.
  • Safer Tray Cover Design: Understanding the risks associated with drawstrings, especially around babies and toddlers, we have designed our tuff tray cover with an elastic hem and completely removed any dangerous drawstrings. Other covers may use drawstrings for adjustments, but these can pose serious safety risks. At Learning Through PLAYtrays®️, we choose to prioritize safety by opting for a stretchy, safe, and secure cover solution.

The activities featured in the 60 Tuff Tray Sensory Play Cards are designed to be set up and supervised by an adult, using materials of your choice.     • Choose materials appropriate for the age and stage of your child. Avoid small parts that could pose a choking hazard.

    • Avoid using sharp, toxic, or hazardous materials in your tray or sensory bin.

    • Do not leave children unattended near water.

    • Ensure all items used for play are clean and safe for handling.

    • If your child is still mouthing objects, avoid small loose parts or any items that could fit through a cardboard toilet paper tube.

    • Be mindful of temperature, texture, and sensory sensitivities before presenting materials.

    Each child is different. What’s safe and suitable for one may not be for another. You, as the supervising adult, are responsible for adapting each activity to ensure a safe, enjoyable experience for your child.
